Samuel Faye Barnes, 71, of Cincinnati, Ark., passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, at his home. Sam was born in Cincinnati, Ark., on Sept. 2, 1943, the son of Joe Lloyd Barnes and Golda Irene Moore Barnes. He married Sharon Kay Pearson on May 31, 1963, in the Nicodemus Community Church, having celebrated 51 years of marriage. Sam worked for various plants around the Siloam Springs area, including being a supervisor at Brand Rex and Franklin Electric. He also owned and operated the P & W Tractor, a Massey-Ferguson dealership, and had later owned and operated the Cincinnati Tire Shop, and was a cattle farmer. Sam attended the Summers Missionary Baptist Church, enjoyed horse racing, reading and tending to his cattle. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Barnes of the home; one son, Joey Barnes of Cincinnati, Ark.; one daughter, Samantha and husband, Kelly Paul, of Rhea Community, Ark.; four brothers, J.L. "Jake" Barnes and wife, Donnis, of Colcord, Okla., Gary Barnes of Gentry, Ark., Juan Barnes and wife, Sandy, of Colcord, Okla., and Doyle Barnes and wife, Carol Jean, of Siloam Springs, Ark.; three sisters, Willene and husband, Charlie Washington, of Summers, Ark., Trecia Slaughter and Daryl Long of Weddington, Ark., and Carol Ann and husband, Jim Trammell, of Pea Ridge, Ark.; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Chapel on Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, at 10 a.m. Brother Paul Young will officiate the service, with burial being held at the Old Union Cemetery in Cincinnati, under the direction of the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.
