Edward "Don" Donald McCrary, 81, of Pea Ridge died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, at the VA Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born July 31, 1933, in Hollywood, Ala., to Dowell Womack McCrary and Ruth Coffee McCrary. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, where he received the Korean Service Medal, with one Bronze Service Star, and U.S. Navy serving aboard the USS Halsey Powell for another six years. He was active in the VFW Post 8109 and American Legion Post 1000. He owned and operated McCrary Electric in Pea Ridge and served on the Pea Ridge City Council. He was a Scoutmaster for the Pea Ridge Boy Scouts, coached Little League (Giants) and Babe Ruth Baseball, and was involved with many fund raising efforts in Pea Ridge. He loved people, camping, mowing lawns for people and was a member of Eastside Assembly Church in Bentonville. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Edward McCrary in 1976; three brothers; and two sisters. Survivors are his wife, Barbara McCrary of the home; two sons, Rick McCrary of Pea Ridge, Jerry McCrary and wife, Mandi, of Rogers; two grandchildren, Jacob and Sarah McCrary of Rogers. Service is set for 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5, at Eastside Assembly in Bentonville. Burial will be in Pea Ridge Cemetery, with military honors. Arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.
