Mark Wood

Ernest Mark Wood of Lowell, Arkansas, died December 30, 2014, at the age of 58 years. He was born in Tampa, FL on October 22, 1956, to Ernest Mason Wood and Janis Gray Wood. Mark's family was a military family and he lived in several states before moving to McAllen, Texas. Mark graduated from McAllen High School and from the University of Texas/Pan America with a Bachelor's degree in marketing. Mark married and moved his family to the Northwest Arkansas area where he worked as a driver for JB Hunt and in the transportation department for George's Inc. Mark is survived by his loving daughter, Gail Marie Wood of Springdale. Also surviving family members are his mother Janis and his brothers: Michael Gray Wood (Laurie) and Mathew Mason Wood (Rosie), nephews and nieces all residing in South Texas. Mark learned to hunt white wing doves when growing up in the Texas Valley and remained an avid bird hunter all his life. Mark was a remarkable reader who could read 2 or 3 books concurrently. He will be missed by numerous friends and family. A special thank you from the family is extended to Mary Wormington, Dwayne Penner, Shane Trolinger, and James Ishmael. A memorial gathering will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2015 at Heritage Funeral Home in Springdale.
