Theodore (Ted) D. Smith

Theodore (Ted) D. Smith passed away February 24, 2015 at Landmark LTAC hospital in Joplin, Mo. following a brief illness. He was born October 13, 1939 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Homer and Evelyn Smith. His family moved to Shreveport, La. in 1943. He graduated form Greenwood High School. After graduation, he proudly served in the United States Navy. He returned to Shreveport after his Naval Service and graduated from Baptist Christian College with a B.S. in Business Administration in 1971. He was a past master of Greenwood Masonic Lodge #409 and a member of the Valley of Shreveport Scottish Rite. He was also and avid sports fan and enjoyed reading, fishing and refurbishing antique furniture. He is survived by his wife Beanie Smith, whom he married Feb. 23, 1994. He is also survived by four stepsons, Ben Zimmerman (Erinn) of Fieldon, Ill., Doug and Andrew Towell (Samore) of Bella Vista, Ark. and Joe Towell (Whitney) of Garfield, Ark., grandchildren, Haley Zimmerman, Mykell Evans, Alexus Towell, Raegan Towell, Michael Towell; three brothers, John Smith (Houston, Texas), Bill Smith (Shreveport, La.), James Smith (Simsboro, La.) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Ted's incredible sense of humor and infectious smile will be missed by all who knew him.
