Virginia (Ginny) L. Weiland

Virginia (Ginny) L. Weiland passed away peacefully on Jan. 25, 2015 at the Circle of Life Hospice facility in Bentonville, Ark. Ginny was born May 15, 1928 in Oklahoma City, Okla. and lived in Sioux City, Iowa, Wichita, Kan. and Overland Park, Kan. until 1984, when she and husband, Ken, moved to Bella Vista. Over the past 30 years, Ginny has been very active in her church and community. She is an active member at Bella Vista Community Church, serving on the Board of Outreach, Board of Program Development and was a Stephen Leader with Stephen Ministries for many years. Ginny is a life member in the Order of Eastern Star, Rose Douglas Chapter in Wichita, Kan. Ginny was also an active member of the local PEO chapter in Bella Vista. For many years, Ginny could be seen driving her golf cart checking on all the Bluebird houses around the Metfield area. She was a supporter of getting bluebirds to return to Arkansas and was acknowledged by the national Audubon Society for her efforts. She is a former member of the Ladies 9-Hole Golf and the Metfield Mommies Golf groups. Ginny enjoyed playing bridge, canasta and mahjong and could usually be found playing with friends several times each week. Preceding Ginny in death was her husband, Ken Weiland, who passed in 1986. She is survived by her three children, Ray Weiland and his wife, Gail from Hillsboro, Mo., Jill Frisch and her husband, Flip from Kansas City, Mo., Mike Weiland and his wife, Jill from Georgetown, Texas. Ginny has six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family will be holding a memorial service for Ginny on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Bella Vista Community Church, with a reception immediately following at the church. All are welcome! Internment of Ginny's ashes will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 at Bella Vista Cemetery Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ginny's name to Bella Vista Community Church for Stephen Ministries.
