Betty L. Dearing Yancey, 86, a resident of Prairie Grove, went to be with Jesus, Aug. 29, 2015. She was born Nov. 17, 1928 at Viney Grove, the daughter of Wayman Francis and Mary Pearl Stephens Dearing. Betty was also known as Me Ma to her family and Miss Betty to her friends. She was a graduate from University High School in Fayetteville. She worked with Sam Walton helping him open five and dime stores in Springdale and Fayetteville in the late 50s and early 60s. She also worked at Baldwin Piano & Organ, Jones Truck Lines, and a greeter at the Walmart store on 6th street for 12 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Stephen, George, and Bill Dearing; three sisters: Hester Carnahan, Frances Patten, and Mary Dean Mason. Survivors include one son, Bill Yancey and wife, Donna; two daughters, Sandi Wyatt and husband, John and Karen Cunningham and husband, Ronnie, all of Prairie Grove; seven grandchildren: Stacey, Crystal, Jeff, David, Matthew, Rachel, and Kennedy; seven great-grandchildren: Regan, Cadey, Drew, Lexi, Reese, Drew, and Brynlee; and numerous nieces, nephews, and her Walmart family. The family will receive friends, Thursday from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Luginbuel Chapel. Funeral Service will be held Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, 10 a.m. at the Farmington Baptist with Preston Beeks officiating. Burial will be in the Prairie Cemetery.
