John A. Rolloff

John A. Rolloff, of Fayetteville, died peacefully on Aug. 28, 2015 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born Feb. 10, 1931 in Montevideo, Minn. to Clarence A. Rolloff and Evelyn Rolloff (Bergman). He will be greatly missed by wife, Ann Louise (Sylvander); daughters: Nina Boyd (Tim Nelson), Heidi Jamison (Alan), and Sara Mullen (Gentry); sisters, Catherine Emkovik (John) and Martha Morgan (Jonathan); five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his dog, Oban. John was an Eagle Scout, attending the World Jamboree in Moisson, France in 1947 and raised prize winning sheep. He was in the Merchant Marine and a Sargent in the U.S. Army (Korean Conflict). He earned his BS and Master's degrees from the University of Minnesota. He married Ann Louise in Sweden on Sept. 11, 1955. He was a consultant to Kiyosato Agricultural Experiment Project in Japan and a Fulbright Scholar in Christchurch, New Zealand. He taught Vocational Agriculture in Lake City, Minn. for six years then decided to pursue his doctorate. John received his PhD from The Ohio State University and began teaching Ag Ed and Extension at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville in 1966. He served at UNESCO in Paris, France for a year, helping to organize a World Conference on agriculture held in Copenhagen, Denmark. He retired in April 1997, Professor Emeritus, from the University of Arkansas. John enjoyed his German heritage. He planted many trees in his life time. Friends are invited to gather at the Arkansas Veteran's Home, 1125 College Ave., Fayetteville to celebrate John's life on Tuesday, Sept. 1 from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks, P.O.
