Fred Allen McKinney, 94, of Pea Ridge, died Monday August, 24 at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville. He was born June 8, 1921 in Pea Ridge to James Douglas McKinney and Ruth Inez Priestly McKinney. He married Mable Louise Webb April 8, 1944 at Pea Ridge. He joined Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church in 1946 and served in all the church offices. He was owner and operator of Webb's Feed and Seed in Pea Ridge. In 1955 he was elected as Mayor of Pea Ridge and served until 1958. He served as city recorder for the next twenty-six years. He was a member of the Pea Ridge Volunteer Fire Dept., served on the Arkansas Turkey Federation Board of Directors for many years and was elected President in 1957. For 26 years he served on the Benton Co. Board of Education, was a member of the Pea Ridge School Board, Production Credit Assoc. Board, and held various offices in the Pea Ridge Chamber of Commerce. The McKinney's are well known in the area for providing the "sauce" for all of the many chicken barbecues that have financially benefitted many organizations in the community. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mabel McKinney of the home; one son, Doug McKinney and wife Rozella of Pea Ridge; three daughters, Jane Cooley and husband Doug of Pea Ridge, Peggy David and husband Ronnie of Rogers, Andrea Ricketts and husband Harvey of Pea Ridge; three sisters, Zadie Nelson of Lincoln, Nebraska, Beulah Prophet of Pea Ridge; Margaret Sam of Stillwell, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Services are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 26 at First Baptist Church in Pea Ridge with Rev. John Gibson officiating. Arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge. Burial will be in Pea Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
