Howard Edward (Ed) Jones Jr., age 55, of Springdale, was born to Howard and Marilyn Jones in Morrilton, Ark., August 12, 1960. He passed away in Fayetteville at Washington Regional on August 18, 2015 after several months of illness. Ed graduated from Morrilton High School. He attended and graduated from the University of Arkansas where he made many life-long friends, all Razorbacks - through and through! Ed met his first wife, Susan, at the U of A and they moved to Morrilton in the early years of Ed's business career in the banking and insurance industry. They had two children, Joanna Jones Beck, and Scott Jones. Ed was proud of his children and was particular happy in the past year to give-a-way Joanna at her wedding and to see Scott graduate and begin his career as a teacher and coach. He was looking forward to welcoming his first grandchild in January and cheering on the Harber Wildcat basketball team as Scott joins the coaching staff. Ed is also survived by his older sister, Judy Jones Jordan of Springdale, nieces, Jan Nash of Springdale, and Jill Jordan of Sherwood. Ed has been and insurance agent in Arkansas for 27 years, serving agencies in both Central and Northwest Arkansas. Ed lived and worked in Springdale for much of his career and started his own agency, Ed Jones & Associates in 2005. Ed appreciated and cared for his customers and developed lasting friendships with customers of all ages and backgrounds. Ed Jones & Associates will continue to serve customers, thanks to a recent merger with longtime friends and business associates of Fineline Brokers. The family extends our thanks to James and Aaron Ennis for assuming daily operation of the business sooner than anticipated due to Ed's illness and sudden departure. Ed's extended family was much larger than his birth family. His extended family included business associates, customers, and numerous friends made through his love of sports. Many were complete strangers, whom he would call "Neighbor". His extended family included life-long high school friends, fellow golfers, U of A alumni, former Razorbacks, coaches, and other members of the Razorback Nation. Ed was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Morrilton. The church sanctuary is under renovation and his funeral will be held nearby at the First Baptist Church of Morrilton with the Rev. Todd-Paul Taulbee officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. in the sanctuary with the funeral to be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 22nd. Burial will follow at Elwood Cemetery. The family extends it appreciation to the staff and congregation of both churches for their ministry and support. The service and burial will be conducted by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Razorback Foundation, 1295 S. Razorback Rd, Suite A, Fayetteville, Ark. 72701, in the Name of Howard Edward (Ed) Jones Jr. A celebration of Ed's life will be held in Springdale on Friday evening before the first home football game. Pallbearers are Larry Boyer, Dave Cherry, Dudley Dawson, Lindy Frizzel, Joe Kline, Sam Pappas, Mike Wofford, and Steve Wofford. Honorary Pallbearers are Jimmy Dykes, Jerry Cagle, Scott Hastings, Walter Hinton, Todd Horton, Nick Madrid, and Jim Reidmiller. Online guestbook: www.harrisfuneralhomes.net.
