Ruby Jean Umholtz was an amazing women, who in her later years, enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, feeding numerous cats in the neighborhood, talking on the phone with friends or just sitting in her backyard swing listing to the song of nearby birds. She looked forward to her trips to Lake Atlanta to feed the ducks and a bite to eat of Catfish John's. She loved music, from the early listening to her neighbor playing his saxophone, hearing her kids play the albums over and over again, singing in the church choir or just driving down the road with the radio turned up. On her 90th birthday, she celebrated by dancing for 3 hours to 50's & 60's music at the American Legion and loving every minute of it! Ruby Jean, 91 passed away peacefully on August 7th. She was born June 8, 1924 to Hurley and Velma Deason. She was the niece of Roby Robinson, the 1927 Apple Blossom Queen who passed away at age 111. She met Donald "Pete" Unholtz during high school and married. They had 3 children; Donna, Lynn and Jim. She was employed at Daisy Manufacturing and retired from Bruce Rogers Plumbing Supply. Ruby is preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her two daughters and their spouses; Donna Knox and Scott Rodgers, Lynn and Larry Webb and her son Jim Umholtz. She has eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was so proud of each one of them. Family gatherings were such happy times because everyone got along. She was always being told how lucky she was to have such a loving family. We feel it's a reflection of her love, strong spirit, sense of humor and belief that when times get tough, your family and friends will always be there!
