Ethel Meyer Gibbs passed away July 20, 2015 in her home at Bella Vista, Arkansas. She was born July 11, 1925 in Lincoln County, Kansas. Ethel attended Beverly High School where she met John B. Gibbs to whom she was married for 72 years. They took up residence in Wichita for 25 years before moving to Dallas. They retired to Bella Vista in 1978. Ethel was the quintessential homemaker providing a beautiful home, comfort and support for her husband and three sons. She was a prolific crocheter and knitter. While always active in her church she also found time to volunteer at the hospital in Dallas. Following retirement they traveled all over the world and she kept comprehensive scrapbooks of the trips. As long as health permitted Ethel and John enjoyed square dancing at many venues. Ethel and her husband were instrumental in founding the Helping Hands store in Bentonville, Arkansas where they volunteered for over 30 years. She was loved and respected by all those with whom she came in contact. Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, John and son Larry. Ethel is survived by sons, Gary (Brenda) of Derby, Kansas and Steve (Sue) of Texarkana, Texas, eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be held at 10am Saturday, August 8 at United Lutheran Church in Bella Vista. Memorials are for the United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Rd., Bella Vista, Ark. 72715.
