Charles Irving Knost

Charles Irving Knost, 85 of Bella Vista, Arkansas died April 21, 2015. Charles was born in Portsmouth, Ohio to Irving Charles Knost and Gladys Mahar Knost, and raised in Bay City, Michigan where he entered the United States Army in 1948. He started his career as a lithographic pressman in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his discharge he continued in this profession for forty years and retired from the Graphics Communication International Union in 1990. During his civilian career he mainly resided in Wisconsin and Minnesota and retired to Bella Vista, Arkansas in 1998. He was a friend of Bill W. for forty years. Charles was a disabled veteran and was compassionately cared for at the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks and Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Carroll Shaver Knost; his daughter Kathleen (Knost) Van Ness, his son Mark, five step-children, 17 grandchildren 13 great-grandchildren and a beloved dog Cody. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, 28, 2015 at the Bella Vista Community Church, 75 East Lancashire, Bella Vista, Arkansas with Pastor Jeff Reed officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Central Office of AA, c/o The General Office, P.O. Box 459, New York, N.Y. 10163.
