James Harold Schlegel

James Harold Schlegel II, 81, died April 15, 2015 in Bentonville, Arkansas at the Circle of Life Hospice Legacy Village. He was born in Topeka, Kansas to James and Lavada (Michael) Schlegel on February 7, 1934. Jim attended Topeka High School where he participated in football, basketball, and track, and was a graduate of Washburn University of Topeka, Kansas. He served in the U.S. Army and was veteran of the Korean War. He was also an active golfer, poker player, and boater. Jim was a member of the "Friends of the Highlands" and N.W. Arkansas Miata Club. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jacqueline Stitt. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Deanna Schlegel of Bella Vista, Arkansas; two daughters, Kristie Terpening (Kevin) of Seabrook, Texas and Sunni Zentner (Arlen) of Topeka, Kansas; four grandchildren, Aaron and Tyler Zentner, Korbin and Kolton Terpening. A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 19th, at the Highlands Country Club, 1 Pamona Dr., Bella Vista, Arkansas, 72715. Memorial contributions may be made to Circle of Life Hospice Legacy Village, 1201 NE Legacy Parkway, Bentonville, Ark. 72712. Arrangements were by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory.
