Harold E. Peterson

Harold E. Peterson was born August 8, 1925 to Harry and Julia (Mandsager) Peterson at Badger, Iowa. He was baptized by Rev. B.A. Olson of Badger Lutheran Church. He received his elementary education at a country school, Humbolt County, Iowa, graduating in 1939. He received his high school training at Canton Lutheran Academy in South Dakota. He graduated high school at Hillcrest Academy, Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1945. Basic training took place at Camp Waltens, Texas, 33rd Infantry Division. He served in the 3159th Signal Service Unit in the Philippine Islands and Japan. He was discharged in November 1946. He graduated from Evangelical Lutheran Church of America seminary June 2, 1957. He served his first parish in Storla from 1957 to 1959. He then served at Winnebago Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, Iowa from 1959 to 1970. For 18 years, he served as pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca, Iowa from 1970 to 1988. In 1988 he retired to Bella Vista where served as in Interim and Visitation pastor of United Lutheran Church. He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Pearl Peterson, a daughter, Cynthia Peterson Kiklscheen, and a grandson, Brennan Boulton. He is survived by his son Stephen Peterson of Arvada, Colorado; three daughters, Julia Boulton of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Joy Rendon (Britt) of Bella Vista, and Lisa Willett (Andrew) of Avoca, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, Alethea Kohlscheen Williams, Noah Peterson, Sierra Peterson, Jenna Peterson, Tory Boulton, Lucas Boulton, Jasmine Rendon, Holly Rendon, Dylan Rendon, Russell Willett and Brent Willett; and other extended family and a host of relatives and friends! Funeral Services will be held Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 3 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road, Bella Vista, Ark. 72715. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. at the church. Pastor Fred Nelson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Lutheran Church in Bella Vista.
