Virginia "Ginny" Lee Mase, 86, of Bentonville, passed away with Alzheimer's Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the Bradford House Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bentonville. She was born Oct. 17, 1928 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Earnest and Margaret Roehrich and was preceded in death by her parents, an older sister, a younger brother and her eldest son, David. Ginny is survived by Jack, her devoted husband of 64 years; a daughter, Sharon and husband Bob of Fayetteville; a son, Ron and wife Kimberly of Missouri City, Texas; along with seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren living in Fayetteville, Springdale and Berryville, Ark., Missouri City, Texas and Okinawa, Japan. As a registered nurse, Ginny worked in many hospitals through the years and served as team nurse on church mission trips to such places as Haiti. She was an avid cook and vegetable gardener along with mastering baking skills handed down from her German Grandfather who operated a Cincinnati bakery for many years. A person of deep faith, Ginny always sought to serve others, unobtrusively. She was an active leader in Bible Study Fellowship, a Stephens Minister, Presbyterian Elder, Sunday School teacher and church choir member. In 1980 Ginny earned her Private Pilot's License and could finally help Jack with piloting chores on many cross-country trips in their Cessna Cardinal. 1988 saw Ginny "retiring" to a 40-acre ranch near Berryville, Ark. where, in addition to part-time nursing, she served on the Literacy Council and became a foster parent of teenagers along with tending to a big garden, two horses and 18 head of cattle. Ginny moved to Rogers in 1995 and retired from nursing, but managed to serve as a volunteer usher at the Walton Arts Center for nearly ten years. A Celebration of Life and Witness to the Resurrection Service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, April 12, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church in Bentonville with Pastor Katie Cummings and Associate Pastor Georgia Senor officiating.
