Jimmy Ray Woods

Jimmy Ray Woods, 50, of Springdale passed away Sept. 24, 2014. He was born Feb. 21, 1964, to Florene and Walter Howard Woods Jr. in Midland, Texas. The family later moved to Yazoo City, Miss., where Jimmy spent his youth. After attending Mississippi College, Jimmy enlisted with the United States Army where he proudly served his country. He always maintained a deep love for his country and a deep respect for others who serve or had served in the Armed Forces. After his service in the military, Jimmy moved to the Fayetteville-Springdale area where he remained. He was a long-term employee of GTS of Fayetteville and his co-workers were also good friends. He loved the outdoors, especially the rivers, streams and mountains of Northwest Arkansas. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was happy to share his adventures and wisdom with his many friends. Although he enjoyed the outdoors and hunting, he did it with respect for the animal. Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, Walter Howard Woods Jr. of Yazoo City, Miss. He is survived by two daughters, Savannah Woods of Fayetteville and Keva Woods of Seattle, Wash.; his mother, Florene Woods of Yazoo City, Miss.; brothers, Glen Woods of Brandon, Miss., and Wade Woods of Yazoo City, Miss.; sister, Teresa Snook of Little Rock; longtime girlfriend, Camryn Bowen of Springdale; many nieces and nephews, and a circle of special loving friends. Jimmy's family wishes to give special thanks to Becca and James Poe, Morgan Knight and Rommy Henley for the love, care and support they provided to Jimmy and his family. A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced. Memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice (Earlene Howard Hospice Home), 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR 72762; or Veterans of Foreign Wars at vfw.org.
