Betty Sue Hutcheson

Betty Sue Hutcheson, age 93, of West Fork, Ark., passed away Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, in Willard Walker Hospice Center. Betty Sue was born Oct. 13, 1920, in McAlester, Okla., to James Bryant Cornell and Gertrude Logan, who preceded her in death; as well as a brother, Edward Cornell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Smith. She, along with her ex-husband, Harold Hutcheson, founded and ran the Lincoln New Era in Lincoln, Mo., for many years, then they moved to West Fork and founded The Washington County Observer. At the tender age of 55, Betty got her realtor's license and was a realtor at Newlin Reality for 30 years. She will be greatly missed by her family and extended family of friends and colleagues, especially her ready smile, quick wit and generous heart. She lived in West Fork for 40-plus years and was involved in many community activities, and dearly loved those hills of home. She is survived by a son, Roy G. Smith; a daughter, Cathy Smith Keck; four grandchildren, Robert Logan Smith, Cassandra Danielle Smith, Katie Keck Wilson, Joseph L. Keck. A memorial service will be held at the West Fork Community Church on Friday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Paul Woodhouse officiating. A reception will follow in the basement of the church; all are welcome. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to West Fork Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 970, West Fork, AR 72774. The family would like to express their gratitude to the many health care providers that supported both Betty and her family. Arrangements are under the direction of Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home in Rogers.
