Robert Henry Dovenmuehle

Robert Henry Dovenmuehle, 90, a resident of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away Sept. 13, 2014, at North Hills Lifecare and Rehab in Fayetteville. He was born July 9, 1924, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of August F. and Louise Steger Dovenmuehle. Robert held many professional positions including: associate professor of psychiatry at Duke University '53-'65, director of Mental Health Programs Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education '65-'66, professor of psychiatry University of Missouri School of Medicine KC '66-'69, executive director of Dallas County MHMR '69-'75, clinical director for Guilford Co. Mental Health Center '75-'76, and owned his private practice in Greensboro, N.C., from 1976 until his retirement, as well as a psychiatric consultant for Hughes Home in Danville, Va., from '83 until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Helen Payne; his daughter, Nancy; and one grandson, Andy Belew. He is survived by two sons, Marcus Dovenmuehle, and Robert Dovenmuehle and wife, Dianna, of Statesville, N.C.; three daughters, Lois Belew of Fayetteville, Ark., Susan Davis and husband, George, of Oxford, Ohio, Helen Dovenmuehle of Dallas, Texas; six grandchildren, Justin Belew, Justin Dovenmuehle, Angelica Dovenmuehle, Alexander Dovenmuehle, Zachary Davis and Jacob Davis; seven great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at Messiah Lutheran Church in St. Louis, Mo., with burial in Our Redeemer Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo.
