Zevelyn Elizabeth McDougal Cosby

Zevelyn Elizabeth McDougal Cosby, age 92, of Fayetteville passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014, in Fayetteville. She was born Sept. 3, 1922, in Mundell (Benton County), Ark., the daughter of Thomas S. and Caroline Schnitzer McDougal. She attended Fayetteville and Rogers Public Schools and the University of Arkansas. During World War II she was employed in the Signal Corps Division of the Army Air Force at Scott Field in Illinois and by the U.S. War Service, Office of Censorship, in New York City. After returning to Arkansas, she taught for three years in the Carroll County School System. She retired from Arkansas Western Gas Company in 1987. She was a longtime member of First Christian Church in Fayetteville. She was preceded in death by her husband, William V. "Bill" Cosby; a brother, Leland McDougal; and three sisters, Isabelle Torrans, Verdel Heller and Marjorie McDougal. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Hornaday and husband, Floyd, of Fayetteville, and Kylah Baker and husband, Bob, of Greenland; two granddaughters, Mary Hornaday Swift and husband, Brian, and Katelin Hornaday; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at First Christian Church in Fayetteville, with the Rev. Ryan Pfeiffer officiating.
