Robert Owen Guist

Robert Owen Guist, 65-year-old resident of Gentry, Ark., died Sept. 15, 2014, at Northwest Medical Center, Springdale, Ark. Born Sept. 19, 1948, in Fayetteville, Ark., he was the son of Jack Guist and Ina McClendon Guist. Robert graduated from Fayetteville High School, and worked as a carpenter and a roofer. He was an avid hunter and fisherman in his youth, and loved to travel. Robert married Kenda Lou Sikes in Eureka Springs, Ark., on Oct. 7, 2005. He was of the Christian faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Ina Guist; two brothers, Clyde Junior Guist and Aubry Guist; and one sister, Frances Edna Bonner. He is survived by his wife, Kenda Lou Guist of the home; five sisters, Betty Aldridge of Edmond, Okla., Piney Ann Luper of Springdale, Carolyn Spears of Springdale, Marcella Sides of Durham, Okla., and Ruth Hunter of Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, with Pastor Keith Harper and Pastor Paul Jeffus officiating.
