Phyllis Lorraine Moser, age 93, a long-time resident of Rogers, passed away Monday, September 8, 2014. She was born August 25, 1921, in Hugoton, Kansas, one of three daughters born to Orin and Ethel (Carter) Simpson. On June 6, 1937, Phyllis married Harley Moser Sr., and the couple moved to Rogers in 1945 after Harley's service in the US Air Force. In 1950, Phyllis worked hand-in-hand with Harley Sr., in establishing Moser Manufacturing Co, which is still in operation today as a division of Moser Corporation, and whose office furniture and supplies are in thousands of institutions. Phyllis was a life-member of the Parent Teacher Association for Rogers Public Schools, having served as president of the organization on more than one occasion. During her sons' childhood, she was a Den Mother for their Cub Scout Dens and was active with their Boy Scout troops. An active pillar member of Central United Methodist Church, she was a charter member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class and a faithful knitting member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry. Additionally, she served as secretary of the Central United Methodist Church Memorial Foundation for 18 years. Phyllis was a major supporter of St. Mary's Hospital where she spent 17 years, including three as president, on the Hospital Auxiliary board. She also served more than 8 years as a board member of the Hospital Foundation. She was a very talented seamstress, and she enjoyed making clothing for the benefit of others. Her elegant and kind spirit touched the lives of many, and she will be greatly missed by her family, church family, and the Rogers community. Survivors include her sons, Harley "Butch" Moser, Jr., and wife Lynda, Philip Moser, Mike Moser and wife Sandra all of Rogers; grandchildren, Kelly Chimarys, Terry Drain, Todd Moser, Margo Blunk, Timothy Moser, Daniel Moser, Mason Moser; eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 73 years, Harley Moser, Sr.; and two sisters, Virginia Pickett and Betty Steppler. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2014, at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Central United Methodist Church in Rogers. Burial will be private. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Central United Methodist Church, 2535 W. New Hope Rd., Rogers, 72758. Arrangements are by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers.
