Joan Johnson, a resident of Eureka Springs, Ark., was born June 6, 1931, in Anson, Texas. She was the daughter of Angus Benton and Edith Gay (Palmer) Glasgow. She departed this life Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, in Bentonville, Ark., at the age of 83 years. Joan was a member of the Faith Christian Family Church. She was a homemaker for many years. She enjoyed gardening, walking and being outdoors. Joan is survived by two sons, Royce G. Johnson of Berryville, Ark.; Jerry L. Johnson of Eureka Springs, Ark.; one daughter, Linda L. and Larry Wright of Bentonville, Ark.; one brother, James R. and Jeanetta Glasgow of Bella Vista, Ark.; one sister, Margaret R. and Vincent Reynolds of Bella Vista, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Angela Moffitt, Lisa Wright, James Johnson, Doug Johnson, Krystin Johnson, Kyla Johnson, Kolton Johnson, Jolene Jashurek; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and loved ones. On Dec. 23, 1950, she was united in marriage with Charles E. Johnson, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Angus and Edith Glasgow; one son, Randy Johnson; one daughter-in-law, Dixie D. Johnson; and one granddaughter, Jessica L. Johnson. Visitation will be 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at the Nelson's Chapel of the Springs. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, at the Nelson's Chapel of the Springs, with the Rev. Marvin Peterson officiating. Interment will follow at the Eureka Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
