Steven Stigers

Steven Stigers, age 69, passed away from cancer at his home in Garfield on Aug. 14, 2014. He was born July 10, 1945, in Montebello, Calif., where he grew up and was an active member in a Christian Church Youth Fellowship program. He participated in school sports and was selected to All-State Second Team in football and received honorable mention for the East/West Shrine football game in California. He graduated from Montebello High School where he was the only three sport letterman, joined the Navy and served two tours as a Seabee in Vietnam. He later graduated from Los Angeles City College with a degree in optics and continued his education at East Los Angeles College. Steve lived in the Fort Worth, Texas, area for many years, where he was a member of the Moslah Shrine. He was a 32nd Degree Master Mason and a member of Pea Ridge, Ark., Masonic Lodge #119. Survivors include his wife, Peggy (Kneisler Wallner) Stigers; sons, Curtis Stigers of Boise, Idaho, Jake Stigers and wife, Suzanne, of Andover, N.J.; brother, Donald Stigers and wife, Judy, of Sparks, Nev.; brother and sister-in-law, John and Debra Kneisler of Oakhurst, Calif.; grandchildren, Stella and Ruby Stigers; and nieces, Sheri, Kristi and Marisol. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles William and Geraldine (Jeri) Stigers; and eldest brother, Charles (Chuck) William Stigers Jr. Services will be private.
