Marion Eugene "Gene" Taylor, 89, of Bella Vista passed away to "live in a beautiful house" on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014. He was born on April 3, 1925, in Hobart, Okla., to the late Herva Church Taylor and Tennie Bell Massey Taylor. For nearly 60 years he was the devoted husband of the late Mary RosaLee Kelley Taylor. Always a man of service, he proudly served as a Marine during World War II. Later, he became the commander of the Civil Defense and Police Auxiliary, a shop steward and assistant postmaster and volunteered with countless charitable organizations. He never knew a stranger and would help anyone in need. He loved to farm, collect stamps, coins and the time spent with his family. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Earl Taylor. Survivors include three daughters, Shirley (John) Uitz of Bella Vista, Rosemary (Jeff) Baxter of Kelso and Eugenia Merit (Ruben) Wexler of New Mexico; four sons, Clinton (Lucille) Taylor of Bentonville, Terry (Chris) Taylor of Huntsville, Dennis (Glenda) Taylor and Todd (Sue) Taylor of Cave Springs; 22 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 30 from 5-7 p.m. at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville. Graveside funeral services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31 at Thornsberry Cemetery, 15027 Osage Creek Road, Springdale.
