Catherine Ray Newell

Catherine Ray Newell, 61, of Fayetteville died Oct. 23, 2014, at Washington Regional Medical Center. She was born July 27, 1953, in Hawthorne, Calif., to Richmond Blair and Marilyn McQueen Mayer. She was employed at the VA Medical Center where she was instrumental in starting support groups for our veterans. She is survived by her mother, Marilyn Mayer of Fayetteville; and two sons, Christopher Newell and wife, Lauren, of Little Rock, and Brandon Newell and wife, Jessica, of Springdale. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fayetteville.
