Marilyn Helen McKim, 66, of Springdale passed away Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. She was born May 4, 1948, in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, to Howard Nelson and Helen Isabell Elrick McKim. Marilyn began her nursing career as an R.N. in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1964. She earned her Masters in Health Science in 1993 from the University of Arkansas. She was a Nurse Instructor at the Har-ber School of Nursing 1990 - 2005. She was a world traveler. Marilyn once said, "I've been kind to the world and I want them to be kind to each other as they have been kind to me." Her dedication and devotion to all in the healthcare profession by teaching others was only matched by her love of the registered nurse profession. She helped to open and develop nursing schools including one in Saudi Arabia and Har-ber School of Nursing formerly Baptist School of Nursing. A true Canadian who chose to make Northwest Arkansas her home and her love for her students and peers was her focus which gave her life meaning. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Kenneth Anson McKim. Survivors include two nephews, Benjamin Croft and Mark Anson; and her friend Jan Buckles of Springdale. Graveside services will be Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Elm Springs Cemetery. No visitation is planned.
