Tommy Lynn Lonon

Tommy Lynn Lonon, age 67, of Fayetteville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, in Fayetteville. He was born June 4, 1947, in Mountain Home, Ark., to William Lenoir Lonon and Lenora Louise Clark Lonon. Tommy was a graduate of the University of Arkansas, a Certified Public Accountant, and a former partner in the firm of Scarbrough and Murtishaw. He was a member of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville where he served as a Chalice Bearer. He entered into the United States Navy as a Seaman Recruit in 1964 and retired as Captain 30 years later, having served during the Vietnam conflict aboard the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany. He served his community as Treasurer of the Fayetteville Natural Heritage Association and as a member of the Fayetteville Lions Club where he held many offices, including that of District Governor. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his stepfather, Charles Franklin Hasty. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Miriam Kay Johnson Lonon; one daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Wynne and her husband Shawn of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; son, David Lenoir Lonon and his wife Cindy of Maumelle, Arkansas; one brother, William Lonon and his wife, Julie of Springdale, Arkansas; two grandchildren, William Donnell Lonon and Jacob Arnold Wynne. Graveside service with full military honors will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014, at the Fayetteville National Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville. Immediately following the graveside service there will be a reception at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, all are welcome to come visit with family members.
