Bennie Lee Lewis

Bennie Lee Lewis of Farmington completed his work here on earth and left to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 24, 2014. Bennie was the son of Bennett and Scovia Lewis and born on Oct. 18, 1924, in Farmington, Ark., and recently celebrated his 90th birthday. Bennie was a veteran, and early in his career served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He went on to secure a position with the City of Fayetteville Public Works Department where he retired in 1987. Bennie enjoyed his retirement days fishing, tackling many mechanical projects, and spending time with his many friends. Bennie especially enjoyed the company of his church family at Unity Missionary Baptist Church, where he was an active member. Bennie is preceded in his passing and now reunited with wife, June Lewis, daughter, Wanda Lewis, and son, Carl Lewis. To cherish his memory, son David Lewis and wife, Cindy, of Benton; five grandchildren, Gwen, Brian, Matthew, Melissa and Barbara; seven great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, and his many friends. Visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville. Services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Farmington. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Farmington would be appreciated. The Lewis family would like to extend the warmest thanks and appreciation to Dwight and Amanda Gonzales, Pastor of Unity Missionary Baptist Church, and the Congregation for the kindness and the many caring moments over the years.
