Danny Mac Hobson

Danny Mac Hobson, 71, of Lowell, Ark., passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at his home. Danny was born June 14, 1943, in Hot Springs, Ark., to Clyde Smith and Laura Lois Hobson. He grew up in California. He graduated from Kirby High School in 1961, and attended Henderson State University and University of Arkansas 1961-66. Danny worked in the food industry until retiring in October of 2000. He was employed by Don Carr Inc. of Cassville, Mo., from 1968-1991 as a supervisor, and part owner of multiple KFC stores in Arkansas, Missouri and Florida. After retiring from KFC in 1991, he owned and operated a Texaco Food Mart in Rogers, Ark., for about 10 years. His hobbies included fishing, reading, movies, traveling, attending gun and knife shows, NASCAR, avid Razorback fan and faithful believer. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his children and their unending projects that involved him using his love for building things with his hands, taking his grandchildren to see any new movie that came out, and running around with his dog, Dixie, at his side. He was a faithful believer. Danny is preceded in death by his daughter, Caryn Hobson Pierce; his father, Clyde Hobson; two brothers, J.D. and Gene Hobson; and one sister, Delean Tedder. He is survived by his mother, Lois Hobson of Springdale; former wife, Judy Hobson of Springdale, daughter, Alice Hobson of Springdale; son and wife, Danny and Aimee Hobson of Rogers; seven grandchildren, Caleb Anderson of Austin, Texas, Ty and Blake Anderson of Rogers, Austin and Sydney Pierce of Springdale, Jack Baird of Springdale and Jerri McWaters of Fayetteville; several nieces and nephews; former wife, Jane Center; and his best friend, Dixie. Visitation with the family will be held Thursday, Oct. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale. Graveside services will be Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale.
