John William 'J.W.' Monk

John William "J.W."Monk, 83, of Bentonville, Ark., passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at his residence. He was born April 27, 1931, in Pine Bluff, Ark., to John Frank Monk and Agnes Hulse Monk. He was a 32nd-degree Mason, a member of the Bentonville Masonic Lodge No. 56 and a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church for many years. After retiring from Coleman Dairy, J.W. worked as a Walmart greeter at the Bentonville location for over 20 years. He never met a stranger and made everyone that came through the doors feel as though they were the most important person he would see that day. His smiling face and encouraging words will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters. J.W. is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jacquelyn Glover Monk; two sons, the Rev. Steve Monk and wife, Linda, of Pine Bluff, Scott Monk and wife, Jo, of Bentonville; two brothers, Herbert Monk of Pine Bluff, Kenneth Monk and wife, Alice, of Rison, Ark.; one sister, Martha Miller Monk of Pine Bluff; two granddaughters, Hannah Monk of Memphis, Tenn., Grace Monk of Fayetteville; and many co-workers and friends. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services in Rogers. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at Benton County Memorial Park Cemetery in Rogers, with the Rev. Mike McEuen officiating. Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 2907 N. Walton Blvd., Bentonville, AR 72712; or to Watson Chapel Baptist Church, 5514 Pinnacle Lane, Pine Bluff, AR 71603. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers.
