Mary Ward Cox

Mary Ermadene Ward Cox, 95, of Springdale, passed from this life to her eternal rest on Oct. 10, 2014. She was born Jan. 11, 1919, in Barnett, Mo., to Henry and Mary Currence. Mary was an accomplished seamstress and also loved to crochet and quilt. Her home was filled with plants and she could always be found working in her garden. Mary was a devoted Christian and was a charter member of Elmdale Baptist Church in Springdale. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Chester Ward; her second husband, Clifford Cox; her son, Roy F. Ward; son-in-law, Bert Rakes; and two brothers, Orville Currence and Melvin Currence. Mary is lovingly remembered by her children, Don K. Ward and his wife Teri of Charlotte, N.C., Deanna Rakes of Springdale, and Dan R. Ward of Springdale; grandchildren, Grant Ward and Dawn Marie Graber; and great-grandson, Jacob Tamayo. The funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014, at Elmdale Baptist Church in Springdale. Burial will follow the funeral at Elm Springs Cemetery.
