Gladys Long Winkler

Gladys Long Winkler, 91, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, at her home in Rogers, Ark. She was born Nov. 27, 1922, in Argenta, Texas, to the late Creddie and Effie Long. Gladys was preceded in death by three husbands, Lowell Cooper, Isadore (Easy) Winkler and Horace Hines; three sisters, Elna Sciba, Bonnie Wiater and LyNell Grimes; one brother, Orvis Long; and one grandson, Paul Winkler. She is survived by seven children, Peggy (Lendal) Wilks, Louis (Janet) Winkler, Woody (Sue) Winkler, Archie (Rita) Winkler, Valerie Furhken, Jackie Winkler, Janet (Sandra Horine) Winkler; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary, Alice, Texas. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel, 2061 East Main St., Alice, Texas. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
