Susan Marie 'Sue' Morris

Susan Marie "Sue" Morris, 58, died Sept. 18, 2014, in Saint Paul, Minn., from cancer. She was born Oct. 28, 1955, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Donald L. and Lorena Mitchell Morris. She graduated in 1973 from Boone Community Schools (Iowa) and from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, in 1977. Sue worked for several years as a vocal music teacher in rural public schools before earning a master of arts degree in library science from the University of Iowa in 1983. She worked in college and public libraries in Quincy, Ill., Waverly and Cedar Falls, Iowa, and was director of Le Mars, Iowa, Public Library. She served five years as a reporter for the Le Mars Daily Sentinel before moving to Fayetteville, Ark., in 2005, where she joined the staff of Northwest Arkansas Newspapers. Sue enjoyed her dogs, classical music, books, movies and TV, especially "Star Trek." She was recently elected to the vestry of St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Rogers, Ark. Sue was preceded in death by her parents; and her partner, Marsha Melnichak. Survivors include her brother, Stephen L. Morris and his wife, Pat, of Saint Paul, Minn.; sister, Marcia Sheldon and her husband, Joel, of Urbandale, Iowa; and brother, Marvin Morris and his wife, Patricia, of Bondurant, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. Sue's body has been donated to the University of Minnesota's medical school. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 18, 2014, at Saint Andrew Episcopal Church in Rogers, Ark.
