Lewis Edward Huddleston, 82, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, began his next journey on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, surrounded by loved ones at his home. He is survived by his wife and love of his life, Patricia Lynch Huddleston, who he married Feb. 19, 1955, in Detroit, Mich; his six children, James Huddleston, John Huddleston (Kristy), Peggy Murray (Wade), Mary Wallace (Roger), Pamela Bird (Ron) and Geoffrey Huddleston; his grandchildren, Anthony (Jo), Jordan (Tim), Robert, Joshua (Bobby), Stephanie (Ryan), Scott, Jared, Brandy (Todd), Amber, Ashley (Frank), Aimee (Alaa), Jeremy (Emily), Jennie, Dusty (Jenilee), Katie (Bryan), Meagan (Matt), Jodi, Allison (Nick), Logan, Lexi; his great-grandchildren, Taylor, Zoe, Madelyn, Jack, Hallie, Gavin, Ellana, Elizabeth, Reece, Rilee, Sydnie, Calan, Atlee, Jordan, Ben, Farah, Kian, Dylan, Cassidy, Evelyn. Survived also by special family friends, James Doemer, Lori Karain Copelin, Donna Rohrer and Don Palmer; his brother, James in Plymouth, Mich.; and his sister, Betty in Jefferson, Ind.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lew was born to Lewis Eddens Huddleston and Beatrice Bridges Huddleston in Des Arc, Ark., on June 7, 1932. He was preceded in death by his parents; and beloved great-grandson, Daniel Morgan. Lew proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force July 1950-September 1953 as a tail gunner on a B50 SAC bomber stationed in Castle AFB in California. After receiving an honorable discharge, he began a law enforcement career in Highland Park, Mich., then with the Wayne County Sheriff's Department. Among his many accomplishments, he patented a trailer lock, owned a Detective Agency, as well as many other entrepreneurial endeavors. Lew never met a stranger; if you met him you were a friend for life (mostly!). Moving back to his home state, Arkansas, with his family in 1980, he has enjoyed seeing his family grow and enjoying life in his beloved Ozarks. He enjoyed writing letters to editor, and voicing his opinion on politics and life advice. "Lew's Jubilee" will be celebrated in early May 2015 after his five expectant great-grandchildren arrive. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to Sheepdog IA, 1200 W. Walnut St., Rogers, AR 72756; Sheepdogia.org. Sheepdog is a non-profit organization that serves the need of the men and women serving in our military, law enforcement, fire and rescue, and EMS services — a community of people we call "Sheep Dogs." Goodbye Lew, Lewie, Dad, Pops, Poppa, Big Poppa — and thank you for your love and guidance. We will miss you greatly. Arrangements are under the care of Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers. www.RollinsFuneral.com
