Julia Anne Morrow Nelson, 77, a resident of Prairie Grove, Ark., passed away Oct. 6, 2014, at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville, Ark. She was preceded in death by her parents, Neil and Johanna Morrow; a brother, Jim Morrow; a son, Kurt Nelson; and her mother- and father-in-law, Carl and Alma Nelson. Born in Hebron, Ind., on July 13, 1937. She attended Purdue University and later married Dr. Carl Nelson. One of seven siblings, her parents were cattle and turkey farmers. As a young girl, she was a 4-H club member, winning the award for the prize steer at the county fair. Raised in a farming environment, she learned the values of hard work, personal disciplines and financial responsibility. Also learned were community togetherness, charity to others, and a deep appreciation for the beauty and wonder of nature. She lived in many places in her married live including Los Angeles, Calif., Fort Lee, Va., Cleveland, Ohio, and Kitlington, England, all while keeping a home for her family. Later on she moved to Little Rock with her family where she became an antiques dealer. In 1989, wanting to get back to her small-town roots, she moved to Prairie Grove, Ark., and slowly began renovating an old property there. She created a home filled with love, and it became a gathering place for her children and grandchildren, and was always special on Thanksgiving and Christmas. She made many friends there and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by daughters, Kristine Nelson and Kitty Nelson (Ken Keller); brothers, Phil Morrow (Charlotte), Bob Morrow (JoAnn) and Leon Morrow (Debbie); sister, Cathey (Mike Gaffney); sister-in-law, Rosie Morrow; daughter-in-law, Barbara Foley; also four grandchildren, Kerry, Kambrea, (Brandon Herbert), Katchet and Kate. Memorials may be made to the Prairie Grove Public Library or the Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park. Family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-7 p.m. at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove. Funeral service will be held Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, 11 a.m. at the Prairie Grove Cemetery Pavilion. At a later date a memorial service will be held in her home town of Heron, Ind.
