Richard Rick Porter

Richard "Rick" Porter, 68 of Springdale died Saturday, October 4, 2014 in Fayetteville. He was born July 29, 1946 in Springdale, Arkansas the son of W. Howard Porter and Etta Marie McCoy Porter. He married the former Jenette Jackson on July 29, 1977 in Springdale. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era. He was the owner and operator of Porter Backhoe Service for over 45 years and was a member of the Elks Lodge in Fayetteville and the Oakland Zion Grange. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Jenette Porter of the home; 3 daughters, Shana Lawrence and her husband, Stacy of Springdale, Rhonda Porter of Springdale, Alyson Porter of Kailua, HI; son, Eric Porter of Springdale; granddaughter, Jordan Lawrence; grandson, Caleb Lawrence; 2 brothers, Sam Porter and Howard Porter both of Springdale; 5 sisters, Judy Bilderback of Springdale, Louella Lawson of Springdale, Mary Deaton of Prairie Grove, Sara Gabbard of Huntsville, Sharron Sizemore of Springdale. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7PM on Monday at the chapel of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:00AM, Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the Chapel of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. Following the service burial will be in Elm Springs Cemetery.
