Elizabeth Aurelia Thomason Lakis, 53, of Rogers, Ark., passed away Oct. 2, 2014, in Rogers. She was born July 22, 1961, in Austell Ga., the daughter of James Manson and Barbara Rousey Thomason. Elizabeth was a mother to many and a member of Central United Methodist Church in Rogers. She earned a degree in dental hygiene from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, boating, sewing and re-purposing. Others would describe her as gregarious, smiling all of the time and a "bless your heart" kind of woman. She was a passionate fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and could be found most fall Saturday afternoons barking in front of the television. "Oh my stars, did y'all see that play?!" Her mother, Barbara Ann Rousey Thomason, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, David Emmanuel Lakis, two daughters, Hannah and Meredith Lakis, of the entire home; her father, James Thomason, and her sister, Margie Milner, all of Elberton, Ga. She will be missed as well by her brother and sisters-in-law, Greg and Karen Lakis of Boston, Mass., Geoff and Amy Lakis of Baltimore, Md., Jim and Deb Lakis of S. Williamsport, Pa.; her father-in law, George Lakis of Lewisburg, Pa.; her surrogate daughter, Emily Milner Smith of Savannah, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at Central United Methodist in Rogers, with Pastor Dawn Spragg officiating. Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th, Rogers. Memorial services in Elberton, Ga., in the chapel of 1st Baptist Church Saturday, Oct. 11, at 11 a.m., under the direction of Hicks Funeral Home.
