Sgt. Maj. David Lee Wright, U.S. Army (Ret.), age 90, of Bella Vista died Nov. 17, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers. He was born in Hugo, Okla., on April 3, 1924, to the late David and Grace (Billings) Wright. David served his country in the Merchant Marines (U.S. Navy Reserve) during World War II and went to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation after the war. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict and in Vietnam. He obtained the rank of sergeant major and retired from the Army in 1972, moving to Collins, Miss. In Collins, he attended Victory Baptist Church, worked for Covington County Bank, and was a member of the Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons. After moving to Northwest Arkansas, he was a member of Bella Vista Baptist Church, and attended Radiant Life Church and Calvary Chapel of the Ozarks with his daughter and son-in-law. Survivors include his children, Dee Biggs and husband, Terry, of Bella Vista, M. Sgt. John David Wright, U.S. Army (Ret.), and wife, Diane, of Elizabethtown, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 57 years, Mary (Watts) Wright; and four brothers. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Fayetteville National Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Galen Pearcy.
