Stacy William Coon

"Some of us think holding on makes us stronger but sometimes it is letting go." Hermann Hesse Stacy William Coon Sr., 61, of Huntsville, Ark., passed away Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville, Ark. He was born May 30, 1953, at Okemah, Okla., the son of Phillip Coon Sr. and Lula Mae West Coon. He served in the United States Army as a combat engineer, where he earned an expert badge with M-16 rifle bar and a sharpshooter badge with hand grenade bar. He was employed much of his life as a heavy equipment operator that included road construction and as a long haul truck driver. He liked riding horses, playing the guitar, and restoring old cars and Harley Davidson motorcycles. Survivors include his longtime love, Kathy Tipton of the home; his children, Serena Melton and husband, Justin, Justin Coon, Vannessa Coon, Stacy Coon Jr., Madeline Coon; and stepson, Fields Thompson; brothers, Glen Rodriquez, Buck Coon, Amos Coon, Phillip Coon Jr., Manuel Coon and Wendell Coon; sister, Janice Coon. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Kaylon and Jaycie Melton, Davin, Justin and Ella Coon, Jalon Martinez and Maecie Bender, Waylon Coon and Kayden Wilson. Also included are many other family members and friends. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, in the Brashears Funeral Home chapel, with Justin Harris officiating.
