Duane Edward Rathman

Duane Edward Rathman, 73, of Springdale, Ark., formerly of the Atlantic, Iowa, area, passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 15, 2014, at Walnut Grove Nursing Center in Springdale, Ark. Duane was born May 30, 1941, in Atlantic, Iowa, to Carl Eilts Rathman and Laura Mary Ohler. Duane grew up in Cumberland, Iowa. On Oct. 2, 1960, Duane married Judith Ann Gipple. Three children were born to this union, Jeana Colleen, Tracy Sue and Duane Edward Jr. While living in Atlantic, Duane worked for Walnut Grove for 20 years. He enjoyed playing the drums in a local band the called "The Blue Tones." In 1986, he moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., to become an instructor at the United States Truck Driving School, and married his current wife, Donna. In 1992, Duane and Donna moved to Springdale, Ark., eventually retiring from over-the-road trucking and he began hauling fuel for a local company until he sold his truck due to health issues. He enjoyed helping part time at a local truck dealership, and spending time with his family and their chow dogs. Duane is survived by his wife, Donna; three children, Jeana Sornson, Tracy Rathman and Duane Rathman Jr.; two stepdaughters, Tracy Anzalone and Britt Graham; three grandchildren, Samantha Ritchey, Gage Sornson and Clay Sornson; one step-granddaughter, Brandi Graham; two great-grandsons, Landon Sornson and Brooks Ritchey; one sister, Karla Bailey; and many, many friends. Graveside services will be Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Rogers City Cemetery. A visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. before the service at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale.
