Phyllis Marie Greenawalt

Phyllis Marie Greenawalt, 86, of Bella Vista, Ark., died on Nov. 9, 2014. She was born on Oct. 23, 1928, in Quenemo, Kan., and raised in Burlingame, Kan., by her parents, A.M. "Mac" and Avis Fine. She graduated from Kansas State University in 1950 with a degree in home economics and education. She married Jack Greenawalt in 1949. They lived in Chicago, Ill., Des Moines, Iowa, and Columbus, Ohio, before relocating to Bartlesville, Okla., in 1955, where she took great pride in raising her family of four boys. In addition to participating in her sons' many activities, she served as church organist for 20 years. She worked at several jobs, including director of marketing and human resources for Home Savings and Loan, as executive director of the YWCA, and for the Bartlesville Chamber of Commerce where she managed the Visitors Information Center until she retired. Phyllis was active in many local organizations, including past president of the local chapter of the American Business Women's Association. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack of 46 years. She is survived by four sons, Larry Greenawalt of Seattle, Wash., Kirk Greenawalt of Bella Vista, Ark., Scott Greenawalt and his wife, Debra, of Bentonville, Ark., and Todd Greenawalt of Kansas City, Mo. She has three grandsons, Jason Greenawalt, Parker Greenawalt and Nash James. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory.
