Jacob Frederick Von Canon

Jacob Frederick Von Canon, 83, a resident of Lincoln, Ark., passed away suddenly on Nov. 10, 2014, in Marlin, Texas. He was born Dec. 7, 1930, in Lincolnton, N.C., the son of Frederick and Margaret Abernathy Von Canon. Jacob graduated from Cranberry High School in Banner Elk, N.C. He then graduated college from North Carolina State. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and taught at the University of Arkansas. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Douglas Von Canon. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Carol Ann Boyce Von Canon; six children, Susanna von Canon of Amsterdam, Holland, David Von Canon and wife, Carolyn, of Lincoln, Ark., Frederick Von Canon and wife, Anita, of Raleigh, N.C., Jon Von Canon and wife, Jennifer, of Wake Forest, N.C., Angela Tolbert and husband, Bill, of Springfield, Mo., and Rachel (Von Canon) Crabtree and husband, Dan, of Vicenza, Italy; 11 grandchildren, Anthony, Stanton, Lesley, Theron, Kyla, Maggie, Morgan, Owen, Andrew, Oliver and Kingston; three great-grandchildren, Alex, Livia and Jordan; his former wife, Joann Southern of Fayetteville, Ark.; one sister, Louise (Von Canon) Holsouser of Banner Elk, N.C. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7-8 p.m. at Luginbuel Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery, near Morrow, Ark. There will be no graveside services held at the cemetery.
