Paul Ammon Morton, 95, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Circle of Life Hospice Legacy Village in Bentonville, Ark. He was born on May 22, 1919, in Whidbey Island, Wash., to James Franklin Morton and Minnie Christine (Schmelz) Morton. He was raised and educated in Hawaii, graduated from Georgia Tech and received his master's degree from George Washington University and attended the Armed Forces Command and General Staff College and Armed Forces Industrial College. He served in the U.S. Army from 1937 until 1963, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. Paul was active in Bella Vista Community Church and chairman of the Board of Elders, served on the Outreach Committee, was a Stephen Minister and on the Visitation Committee of the Board of Members of Care. He also was a volunteer at the Village House and Concordia Care Center. Paul married Carol E. Drolsum on May 6, 2006, in Bella Vista, Ark. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria (Berrios) Morton, who died in February 2004; and his sister, Margaret Culet. He is survived by his wife, Carol E. Drolsum of Bella Vista, Ark.; son, Bruce D. Morton and wife, Carol James, of Catonsville, Md.; stepdaughter, Kristy Vik of Gurnee, Ill.; and sister-in-law, Miriam Chiarello of Louisville, Texas. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 2, at the Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark., with Pastor Jeff Reed officiating. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark.
