Laurence 'Larry' Donald Lindemuth

Laurence "Larry" Donald Lindemuth, 85, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Thursday, May 22, 2014, in Bella Vista. He was born on Oct. 31, 1928, in Topeka, Kan., to Laurence V. Lindemuth and Adaline Spickerman Lindemuth. He attended school in Topeka. He attended with his wife to be Potwen Grade School. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1946. He was drafted in the Army while attending Washburn University in 1950, and married Jean Kanode on Oct. 1, 1950. He attended basic training and leadership school at Fort Riley, Kan., and received his commission of 2nd Lt. there and moved to Aberdeen, Md., and applied to Army Aviation in San Marcos, Texas. He finished in Fort Sill, Okla., and was assigned to be a ground instructor at Fort Sill. After four years he was discharged as 1st Lt. moving 38 times during his life. He attended Kansas State College graduating as a chemical engineer in 1954. He and his wife, Jean Marie Kanode Lindemuth, lived in Ponca City, Okla., Effingham Ill., Lincoln, Ill., before moving to Bella Vista, Ark., where they lived for 20 years. Then Larry was diagnosed with Alzhiemer's and Jean with heart failure. They had to give up their home, cars, etc. to move in nursing homes, ending up with moving to their son, Cary, and wife, Bonnie's, home when Larry became a concerned patient and passed away there. In 1953 a daughter, Leslie, was born to them and in 1957, Cary came into the family. Leslie married Ron Darin and they have three children, Stephanie (Dan) Kiehl, Mark Darin (Alisha) and Stacy (Austin) Twomy. Stephanie has three children, Joey, Jeffrey and Alex. Mark has two children, Braydena and Abbigale. Cary has four sons, Chad (Sam) Cory (Kristin) Cyle (Denise) Culan, Cirk (Brittany) Kadon, Jayce; and sister, Nancy Laster. For 20 years Larry had his own business, Water Treatment Services. Golf was his sport and played for many years. The last group, Wednesday 9-hole group. Visitation will be from 9 till 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, with funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Village Baptist Church, 380 Glasgow Road, Bella Vista. Graveside and burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Topeka, Kan. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory.
