Marva June Scioneaux McCoy was born in New Orleans, La., on Feb. 24, 1928, to Emma and Schley Scioneaux. She was raised in Gretna, La., along with her sister, Jerry, and spent summers in the Louisiana country on her relatives' sugar cane farms. She attended school in Gretna, was a member of the Gretna Girls' Association and loved the French Creole way of life. She hoped to study to be a nurse, but instead went to work for the Navy where she met her first husband, James M. Gee, who was also in the Navy. They later moved to California and raised five children. Amongst her many achievements, while residing there she won the titles of Mrs. Sacramento and Mrs. California. She moved to Denver and met the love of her life, Bill McCoy. They married and with his two sons, Mike and K.C., and her five children, Pam, Jim, Tom, Jeri and Mike, they became a family of nine. She had many careers and flourished in her real estate business. At the very young age of 52, she and Bill retired to Arkansas and began their Angus cattle business. She and Bill celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2012 surrounded by their children and friends. Her husband, Bill, passed away one year ago and she joined him on May 19, 2014, surrounded by her children who love her deeply. She is survived by six children, 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Services for Marva will be held at St. Theodore Episcopal Church in Bella Vista, Ark., on Thursday, May 22, at 10 in the morning. In lieu of flowers, we request donations to be made to the Circle of Life Hospice Home in Bentonville, Ark., (479) 750-6632. Arrangements by Epting Funeral Home of Bentonville.
