Gladys Aldeen Gatton, 98, of Gravette went to be with the Lord Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Concordia Nursing Facility in Bella Vista. A lifelong resident of Benton County, she was born in Sulphur Springs, Ark., on Sept. 29, 1915, to the late William G. "W.G." and Minnie Walthall Jones. For more than 50 years she was the loving wife of the late Ross Gatton. She was valedictorian of her graduating class and then directed her course of study to the Bible for the remainder of her life. She enjoyed quilting, fellowship with her church family, visiting and reading to those in nursing homes, but she loved studying the Bible and sharing good meals with her friends and family. She taught Sunday school class and was a very dedicated church clerk for the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Claude, Paul and Otis Jones; her sisters, Faye Carver and Vauda Ruth Jones. Survivors include several nieces, nephews, cousins; her Mt. Pleasant church family; as well as Margaret Martin and Cathleen Spears, her loving caregivers. Visitation will be from 12:30-2 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, with funeral services at 2 p.m. and interment to follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Gravette. Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Sign Fund, 106 Nelson Park Road SW, Gravette, AR 72736. Arrangements are under the care of Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Bentonville.
