Mitchell C. Smith died May 14, 2014, at his home with wife, Judith, by his side. He was born in Halland, Ark., on Jan. 28, 1934, to Russell and Minnie Mae (Mitchell) Smith. He and his family migrated to California in his late teens and he was employed in the oil fields. He later moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where he met and married his wife of 39 years. He drove a truck for Arbor Acres delivering baby chicks all over the U.S. and Canada, retiring in 1996. He very much appreciated and loved his family and is survived by his wife, Judith; daughter, Pamela Wolfe of Tucson, Ariz.; son, Clifford Smith of Taft, Calif.; daughter, Patricia Bench and husband, James, of Kernville, Calif.; son, Jack Carlson and wife, Theresa, of Wichita, Kan.; daughter, Laura Kaczmarczyk and husband, Bobby, of Bella Vista; and son, Seth Carlson of Greenville, Texas; six grandsons, Nathan, Nolan and Ian Wolfe, of Tucson, Ariz., Isreal Cooper of Taft, Calif., Joshua and Jacob Carlson of Wichita, Kan.; three granddaughters, Rose, Izabelle and Audrey Kaczmarczyk of Bella Vista; two great-grandchildren, Lucas and Kylee Cooper of Taft, Calif.; and sister, Joan Edwards of Bullhead City, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gayle Smith; and sister, Irma Whitney. A memorial service is planned at 11 a.m. on May 31, 2014, at Highland Christian Church, with burial at Friendship Cemetery in Springdale. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory.
