Louis F. Schoeneman Sr.

Louis F. Schoeneman Sr., a resident of Eureka Springs, Ark., was born on May 20, 1922, in Aplington, Iowa, a son of Frank F. and Hermina (Janssen) Schoeneman. He departed this life Sunday, May 4, 2014, in Eureka Springs, Ark., at the age of 91 years. On March 8, 1945, Louis joined the Army Air Corps. Louis proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII as a 2nd lieutenant. He took his training in Florida, Arizona, California, Montana, North Carolina and finally Texas. He graduated as flight officer and bombardier. On Jan. 7, 1942, Louis was united in marriage with Anita Mina (Stukenberg) Schoeneman, daughter of August and Rennie (Popkes) Stukenberg, in Hollywood, Calif. Louis and Anita ran the Acme Cafe in Aplington, Iowa, after his return home in 1955. He later started his career with Farm Bureau Insurance of Des Moines, Iowa. In 1970, he joined Life Investors in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, ending his career as a "Senior General Agent" with Mid America Team of Bettendorf, Iowa. Louis loved to hunt, fish and golf. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Eureka Springs, Ark. He is survived by his twin daughters, Luann and husband, Paul Lawrence, of Springdale, Ark., Linda and husband, Tom Blevins, of Perkersburg, Iowa; one son, Louis F. Schoeneman Jr. and wife, Joanna, of Eureka Springs, Ark.; a daughter-in-law, Megan Quinn of Rock Island, Ill.; including 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Hermina Schoeneman; his wife, Anita; son, Lloyd Schoeneman; an infant son; and his grandson, Michael Schoeneman. Memorial services will 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Parkersburg, Iowa. Interment will be at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Aplington, Iowa.
