Clara Marie Slaughter

Clara Marie Slaughter, age 93, of Prairie Grove, Ark., passed away March 25, 2014, in Prairie Grove. She was born Sept. 21, 1920, in Prairie Grove to Ben and Cassie Blackledge Rice. She was a retired nurse's aide and was a member of Black Oak Baptist Church. Clara was preceded in death by her husband, William Everett Slaughter; and two daughters, Yvonne Slaughter and Phyllis Alexander. She is survived by five children, Jessie Pauline Parker of Prairie Grove, Leon Slaughter and his wife, Pauline, of Fayetteville, Ernest Slaughter and his wife, Jan, of Elkins, Everett Slaughter and his wife, Feriha, of Izmir, Turkey, and Vicki Lee Starbird and her husband, Charlie, of Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Mary Icenogle and Beulah Bryant, both of Prairie Grove; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville.
