Leonard Forrest Heimel

Leonard Forrest Heimel, 83, of Jasper, Ark., died March 20, 2014. He was born Sept. 27, 1930, in South Bend, Ind., to Ira and Izora King Heimel. Leonard loved driving and trading cars and had a great sense of humor. He took interest in HAM Radio, was a champion in Bowling in the Senior Olympics, and most of all Leonard was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Leonard was strong in his faith and attended the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Marshall, Ark. He retired following 20 years service in the Navy and served 10 years in the Naval Reserves. Leonard is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Heimel, Carol Breyne and Donna Huddleston; and infant brother, Donald Heimel. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda Heimel; sons, Terry (Penny) Heimel of Gentry and David (Debra) Heimel of Bentonville; daughter, Sharla Kim (John) Collins of Rogers; brother, Ira Richard Heimel Jr. of St. Joseph, Mich., and 14 grandchildren. A visitation will be held at Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Bentonville, Tuesday, March 25, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Bentonville, Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Bentonville City Cemetery.
